How Draft.dev Works with Clients

At Draft.dev, we prioritize understanding your needs and ensuring a successful partnership. Below is a structured overview of our client engagement process, which outlines each step clearly and provides actionable outcomes.

1. Discovery Call
Before we begin working with a new client, we want to make sure we're a good fit for you. In our 30-minute discovery session, we'll ask you where your business is at, what your content goals are, and the type of content you're looking to produce.
2. Statement of Work and Timeline
We almost always have a backlog of new clients waiting to start, so once you're ready to reserve a spot in our production calendar, we'll send over an estimated timeline and statement of work. This allows us to ensure we have enough writers and editors ready to help maintain our rigorous quality standards, and that both parties are on the same page as far as the scope of work is concerned.
3. Topic Strategy and Intake
During the topic strategy phase, we'll define your content goals, requirements, and the preferences of all stakeholders on your team. Your team will be able to provide examples of articles you like and any desired topic ideas you have in mind. All relevant information about your brand and content strategy is helpful to our Technical Content Specialists and can be incorporated into your content plan.

What kind of content does Draft.dev actually produce?
We create a wide range of content focused on helping technical buyers evaluate, adopt, and grow with your product. This includes blog posts and tutorials, comparison pages, landing pages and onboarding content, technical product guides and use case deep-dives, thought leadership pieces, lead magnets and gated assets, content refreshes and SEO-optimized pages, and more. We tailor content formats and tone based on your goals, audience, and funnel stage.
Who writes the content? Are they technical enough?
All content is created by our network of 300+ vetted engineer-writers and reviewed by subject matter experts and editors. We also use AI to speed up research and drafts, but every piece is reviewed by real developers and edited by professional technical editors to ensure accuracy, clarity, and value for your audience.
How soon do we see content after we start?
You’ll get your first pieces within 3 weeks of kickoff. We’ll spend the first 1–2 weeks aligning on goals, messaging, and the content roadmap so we’re not writing in a vacuum. After that, we aim for a consistent weekly publishing cadence. Publishing 2x weekly is the first core discipline of a successful content operation.
How much of my team’s time will this require?
We’re built to minimize internal lift. You’ll typically need to attend a kickoff call, review and approve a quarterly roadmap, and provide occasional feedback on draft content (we handle the rest). We offer full CMS publishing, distribution, and social media asset creation, so you can focus on other growth initiatives and closing the leads we’re driving.
How do you measure success?
Success depends on your goals, but we typically track traffic to key content, lead magnet downloads, demo or trial signups from content, engagement via newsletters, shares, or backlinks, and movement of content-informed leads down the funnel. We hold monthly analytics check-ins to evaluate what’s working and adjust the roadmap accordingly.
Can we start small and scale up later?
Yes. Many of our clients start small as a test, adding in paid growth options over time. We offer plans starting at $7K/month with an initial minimum commitment of 3 months.
